Summer Camp Coordinator

An outstanding opportunity to assume responsibility for the Summer Camp activities for Power Paws Assistance Dogs in Scottsdale Arizona.

Reports to: Volunteer Coordinator 1

Job Description

This position is directly responsible for executing camp activities with a group of 8 campers (ages 9-12) for a six (6) week summer session. The Summer Camp Coordinator will oversee the day-to-day activities (4.5 hours per day) making learn about assistance dogs in a fun and interactive environment for three (3) two (2) week sessions.  The Summer Camp Coordinator will review last year’s activities and make recommendations on new or changes in the camp activities.  Lesson plan would be for eight (8) days and repeated for each session with new group of campers. Two staffers execute the daily program activities.


The Summer Camp Coordinator will work with kids ages 9-12 with an interactive camp where kids learn the importance of service dogs. 

Camp Activities:                        Four days per week

Days of the Week:                     Tuesday through Friday.

Hours of operations:                  8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.


Camp Schedule

Session 1          Tuesday, June 7-June 17

Session 2          Tuesday, June 21- July 1      

Session 3          Tuesday, July 5- July 17           



  • Major in Recreational Sports/Education and/or pursuing teaching degree.
  • Experience working with children and or canine training programs.
  • Stamina to work with children in a professional manner regardless of circumstances.
  • FBI Clearance Card
  • This position requires the ability to build relationships with all ages including youth and teen participants, members, and community partners.
  • Essential Functions
  • Oversee checking in campers, planning, and executing the day-to-day activities.
  • Responsible for planning list of camp needs so that each camp has supplies well in advance.
  • Direct oversight of planning activities and sharing with Volunteer Coordinator
  •  and Director of Canine Training and Placement.
  • Ability to develop new programs, make decisions, and is comfortable working independently at times.

*A current teacher would be a plus.
