First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon, Rostraver Township, PA, is seeking a church organist to provide appropriate organ/piano music for our services of worship. This is a permanent, part-time (less than 10 hours normally) position. Experience and education preferred. References required. Pay negotiable.
Purpose: To provide, in a professional manner, organ and piano music for the Sunday morning worship service (10 a.m.) and other special services and church functions, including weddings and funerals.
Requirements:
Proficient in musical ability and with organ instrument
Able to work as a team member
Experience and knowledge of church music preferred
Understanding of and commitment to Christian principles
Responsibilities:
Provide organ and piano music in a professional manner for the Sunday morning worship service and seasonal and special services.
Provide organ and piano music for weddings and funerals and be permitted to receive additional compensation from parties involved.
Accompany the congregation's singing of hymns (chosen by the pastor in consultation with organist).
Rehearse sufficiently for optimum performance at the instrument.
Attend choir rehearsals (when and if choir returns) for the purpose of accompaniment and coordinate and accompany choir and individuals wishing to share special music as requested.
Arrange for a substitute when not able to be present or record the music on the organ's system.
Work with pastor and music and worship committee to present liturgical music to enhance and bolster the worship experience. |
