Position Overview:

This is a newly created position reporting directly to the Senior Minister/CEO of FCCLA, leading all communications/marketing and giving/development for the church.  We seek an experienced professional who is passionate about our values and who through their communication and ideas can inspire others to give, engage, and act.

 

Primary Job Duties:

 

Communications:

  • Design and manage the overall communications plan for FCCLA including social media, advertising, marketing, branding, public relations and the development of all related materials
  • Write, compile, and edit materials to the congregation on behalf of the church, as directed by the Senior Minister (i.e. weekly email blast)
  • Manage social media account and maintain/further grow an active online presence for FCCLA, ensuring all content is in keeping with our values and on brand
  • Proactively update FCCLAs website as needed
  • Demonstrate a voice and tone in all communications of respect, kindness and collaboration, and always reflecting FCCLA’s core values

 

Development:

  • Establish the annual pledge campaign goals and strategies to achieve them, in partnership with the Senior Minister
  • Partner with the Generosity Committee (made up of lay leaders, church members, and staff members) to establish a culture of giving among members and regular attendees
  • Plan, manage, and support the annual pledge campaign and giving related activities
  • Work with the Senior Minister to solicit endowments and major gifts.
  • Provide regular reports and updates on progress against goals, shifting course as needed
  • Manage advancement operations, including database management of members and contacts, acknowledgement letters, and recognition systems

 

(Other job duties may be assigned from time to time at the discretion of the Senior Minister/CEO, based on the needs of the organization.) 

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years professional work experience 
  • Minimum 3 years experience in communications, marketinging, fundraising, or advancement
  • Experience in the development and execution of a communications plan
  • Experience creating marketing or communications materials

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Balance of both strategic planning and operational skills
  • A generalist at heart who can switch gears as needed, with an openness to change and a willingness to get in the details
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (Assessment process may include review of writing samples and a copy editing exercise.)
  • Proven track record and success with endowment, major gifts, or fundraising initiatives
  • Leadership responsibility in annual, capital, or endowment campaigns
  • Experience working with high-profile leaders such as major donors 
  • Knowledge of fundraising vendors and the fundraising community
  • Experience with donor databases (Shelby Systems preferred)
  • Proficiency in the use of standard information technologies, including Microsoft software and internet research
  • A team player, with strong interpersonal skills, flexibility and adaptability, and a positive attitude
