Position Overview: The Grants Coordinator will work in conjunction with the Development Team to increase Special Olympics Arizona's grant writing efforts for competitive corporate, foundation and government awards.

Reports to: Director of Statewide Development

Essential Functions:
* Prepare customized letters of inquiry and proposals according to each foundation's guidelines, including: program budgets, timelines, goals, objectives, outcomes, and evaluation criteria for grants with the Director of Statewide Development.
* Manage full range of the grants processes with Director of Statewide Development including identification/qualification of opportunities, development of responses and financial reports.
* Take an active role in the identification of private funders and in the research and development of grant proposals to foundations and corporations that have potential to support new and ongoing program initiatives.
* Maintain and track applications, develop calendars and generate thank you letters from Special Olympics Arizona.
* Organization of standard attachments including but not limited to the organization's Board of Directors list, bylaws, 501(c)(3) letter of determination, most recent financial audit, and most recent 990.
* Communicate with the Program Department and Area Directors to remain up-to-date with program development and needs.
* Work with the Program Department and Area Directors to produce funder reports in a timely and effective fashion.
* Assist the Director of Statewide Development in maintaining a strong and positive relationship with current and prospective funders through letter, email and phone correspondence
* Record all grant request via Raisers Edge Software

Qualifications/Required Skills:

Passion for Special Olympics Arizona

Screening: Must pass Criminal and National Sex Offender Registry background screening. (Required for all staff)

Education: Bachelor degree (Marketing/Communications) or related field and experience

Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in development, event management, public relations and communications.

Knowledge: Kintera, Social Media, Raiser's Edge, Import-Omatic, Outlook, Orchard, Campaign Monitor

Skills: Strong marketing, public relations, organizational, time management, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to establish and achieve quantified objectives; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Ability to work well on multiple, simultaneous projects and deadlines; Strong proficiency of computer software including Microsoft Office.

Physical Demands Include: Standing, walking, climbing ladders, squatting, lifting through full range (must be able to lift a min of 25 lbs), working in confined spaces, working in extremes of heat, cold and inclement weather as well as working at heights above 6'. Moderate to heavy physical demands, will be required to load and unload trucks, and to lift equipment and other merchandise.

Transportation: Must have own reliable transportation and fulfill assignments with reliability and punctuality, have a good driving history and must have valid AZ driver's license.

Work Schedule: This position's work schedule will be determined by the demands of the position and can include 40+ hour work weeks, evenings and weekends.
