Field Foundation Of Illinois

: Regional

Description

The Foundation, founded by the retailer Marshall Field III, supports nonprofits working in the areas of justice, art, media and storytelling, and leadership. Justice grants seek to address the root causes of inequity, be it in community envrionemtn, health, housing, or other issue areas. Rather than funding direct service, here the Foundation prefers to support organizations working to address problems at a systemic and policy level. Art grants seek to create an art-centric city where every community benefits from a robust investment in creativity and local cultural activities and artists. Here, the Foundation focuses on supporting creative spaces inside chronically divested communities. Media and Journalism grants seek to change how news production and storytelling reflect Chicago. These grants also seek to help create a more equitable, connected, and inclusive local media ecosystem in which the stories of all Chicagoans are told accurately, fairly, authoritatively, and contextually. Grants for Leadership seek to recognize, honor, and support the deep bench of visionary leaders across Chicago. The Foundation is interested in investing 60 percent of its portfolio in a range of community –based organizations, with a focus on African, Latinx, Asian, Arab, and Native American organizations. The Foundation prioritizes organizations working within the geographic area of Chicago. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
