DescriptionThe Foundation is committed to improving child and family welfare through community investments in the following areas: public education, human services, and social justice. Formerly the Susan A. Buffett Foundation, the Foundation limits grants to nonprofits located in Omaha, Neb. Occasionally the Foundation makes grants outside of the Greater Omaha region to organizations that have a working relationship with it. The Foundation also supports early childhood education on a regional and national basis through the Buffett Early Childhood Fund. Requests that contain an innovative response to a recognized community need which does not duplicate the efforts of others and those submitted by applicants who have demonstrated the capacity to deliver the service effectively and efficiently are encouraged to apply. Applicants are asked to submit a two-page letter of inquiry. Postmark deadlines for the letter are February 15 and August 15.
