DescriptionThe Foundation’s Access to Care Safety Net program supports institutions and organizations that have traditionally cared for uninsured, at-risk, low-income, and minority patients allowing medically underserved women to access post-screening diagnostics and care. Institutions include public hospitals, safety-net hospitals, community clinics, and cancer centers with a history of effectively navigating patients through the healthcare system and ensuring consistent, high quality care. The program seeks to provide hospitals and health care centers with support for patient navigation programs, equipment, and other personnel and infrastructure needs that will enhance their breast cancer care services to the medically underserved. Grant amounts can be up to $150,000 total costs for one year. An online letter-of-intent form and other information can be found on the Web site. The date is for organizations in Boston, Chicago, Denver, and Washington, D.C. The letter-of-intent due date for organizations in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Santa Barbara is March 15, 2011.
