Description

During the next 15 years, economists predict that younger generations will inherit an estimated 10 to 12 trillion dollars. This represents the largest intergenerational transfer of wealth in history.

Nonprofit organizations that have developed successful planned giving programs will be prepared to provide income and tax incentives to their donors, while taking advantage of this unparalleled revenue generating opportunity.

  • To learn what resources, both internal and external, are necessary
    for success

  • To learn how planned giving can be successfully integrated into an overall development operation, especially in medium and small nonprofits with limited staff.

Payson established the first planned giving program for any orchestra in the U.S. and directed fund raising activities for that orchestra’s $30 million endowment campaign. In 1980, serving as the Director of Capital and Estate Planning at the Illinois Institute of Technology, he directed the University’s individual major gifts programs and the Alumni Capital Campaign, which obtained over $20 million in alumni gifts. Under his direction, the Institute’s Estate Planning Program became a significant contributor to the University’s $100 million Development Campaign. He brings a wealth of hands-on experience to the classroom.
