Given today’s difficult times for nonprofits, hardly any can continue to operate as they have in the past. The 21st Century Nonprofit President/CEO will allow CEO's to enhance their knowledge of what is required to be an effective CEO in a turbulent 21st century environment. Implementable takeaways also will be provided to attending board members on how to support CEOs to do their jobs in these turbulent times. An ideal opportunity for CEO's and their board chairs to interchange ideas with peers under the leadership of an award winning professor & nonprofit leader.

Learning Objectives

In specific, the participants, among other objectives, will learn how to:

  • Develop a viable board-CEO-staff partnership that allows the organization to operate effectively and efficiently. Also how to allow each member of the partnership to be respectful of the roles others play to help focus on the organization's mission, vision and values.
  • Define the CEO's operational responsibilities to enhance the board's policy development, strategic planning and idea generating activities.
  • Have the organization and CEO more effectively operate with fewer standing committees, and, at the same time, make wise use of volunteer directors' time.

Class Format:

The class will be conducted live via a combination of online and phone conferencing (i.e., "webinar") on Wednesday September 19th. The online conference will include a PowerPoint presentation and text chat capabilities. Students will have opportunities to ask questions and interact with the instructor and other students via chat and teleconference.

We encourage all learners to bring other colleagues and co-workers to this training. There is no additional fee for multiple participants at the same location, as long as all individuals share the same phone and computer connection.
